Obituary of Joan K. Gerrety

Batavia - Joan K. Gerrety, 89, of Batavia, passed away Wednesday, (October 10, 2018) at Aaron Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, in Penfield. Ms. Gerrety was born September 16, 1929 in Tonawanda, a daughter of the late James and Effie (Vecklotz) Gerrety. For over 30 years, Joan worked as a Registered Nurse at the former St. Jerome's Hospital. She enjoyed traveling with friends and visited Las Vegas, San Francisco, New York City and Ireland amongst others. She greatly enjoyed photography, and carried a camera everywhere she went. She also loved Friday night fish fries at the Elk's Club in Batavia. Joan is survived by nieces, Pamela Schreiber of Richmond, VA, Cheryl (David) Griggs of Hilton, Melissa (Mark) Costanzo of Richmond, VA; a nephew, James (late Candy) Gerrety of Richmond, VA. She is predeceased by her brothers, James and Robert (late Shirley) Gerrety. There will be no visitation. Family and Friends are invited to attend Joan's Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Friday (October 26, 2018) at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Private entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads House, P.O.
